Care and Feeding

If your ocarina doesn’t sound quite right, try blowing sharply into each of the round holes and the fipple to shake out any dust or saliva that may have lodged there to muddy the tone. Do not poke any sharp objects into the ocarina; you may damage the instrument. Your ocarina may be cleaned easily with soap and water or a mild bleach solution. Please do not use any abrasive solutions to clean your ocarina.
All of our ceramic ware is completely safe and non-toxic. We use no glazes or other coloring agents in our ocarinas. The black finish is the product of nothing more than the interaction of carbon and clay in the highly reduced atmosphere of the firing.
